Tyra Dove Helen Lambert-Tiboni Melissa and Grant Tiboni 7 April , 2007 |
|
Melissa was having a normal pregnancy, but one week before her and Grant’s wedding, at 22 weeks, an ultrasound confirmed that she had vasa previa. Her placenta was almost in two pieces (bi-lobed). After doing research on vasa previa, every moment of everyday was frightening - like walking on pins and needles. After the wedding, she put herself on bed rest for almost a month and then was admitted to hospital at 28 weeks where she would stay and be monitored. It would seem like forever, but it was all worth it. The staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre was very good to her. The doctor had planned to do a C-Section at 37 weeks maybe 36. But, at 2:00 a.m. on April 7, 2007 (34 weeks 4 days), she woke up to a puddle of blood. The nurses got her over to labour and delivery and she was prepped for a C-Section. It was little over an hour until the baby was born. It was very frightening, it seemed like it was forever at the time. But the staff tried to reassure us that Mom and baby were safe. Afterwards we found out that they got Tyra out just in time because the vessel started to rupture. She had lost some blood but was okay. At 3:21 a.m. a beautiful baby girl Tyra Dove Helen Lambert-Tiboni was born safely at 5lbs 2oz. Tyra spent 2-1/2 weeks in NICU, there was a few setbacks but she made it through. She is at home with Mommy and Daddy now and is very happy and healthy. |
